Mural commissioned by ODD (Ottawa Dance Directive)

artist inspired - dream driven

IM DIFFERENT

Being different set the tune for this event. “Having a voice - to be heard - to stay true to who you are - dare to be different and accepted.” words that are driven by Visual Artist Kata Meic whose art had a chance to speak at this incredible event. “I was commissioned by Ottawa Dance Directive (ODD) to do a mural for this event in a church that is no longer being used as a place of worship” 150 feet of expressive not so human art forms and racing thoughts were on display as 4 dancers and a world renowned cellist combine to illuminate 2 evenings that allows expression and freedom together under one roof … The artist shares the meaning behind The Mural titled “Blood, Sweat and Neon Tears” and why it struck a cord. “The position of the mural played a part in the creation. The title both literally and figuratively speaks about ones struggle on a path to find self and self worth” Without getting too conterversal the artist has chosen to not reveal more context in greater detail. She continues, “However I will say this, why does one need to struggle to make something of themselves to be deemed a success or hero in a society that tells us that’s the only way it can be done with no ifs or buts about it? So let’s agree to disagree.
